The Porsche Club of America is all about having fun – having fun with and getting to know people with similar interests, particularly our interest in fine German automobiles. Our slogan, “It’s not the cars, it’s the people” is used frequently in our Club and illustrates the fact that besides our love affair with Porsche, we love to get together and talk about them (and many other things of course).
Although Florida Citrus is perhaps best known for our well-organized Driving Events, we have a long history of social events as well. The list that follows represents some of our get-togethers. Specific current events can be found on our Calendar.
Monthly Meetings – usually held at Porsche Orlando or Porsche – South Orlando the first Monday of every month, these are not only for business of the Club but for chatting before and after. We have dinner afterward at a nearby restaurant, so we can continue catching up. See the Calendar for the location of the next meeting.
Cars & Coffee – early morning weekend gathering of Porsche owners for coffee, doughnuts and whatever, usually near a Café or breakfast/lunch restaurant.
Meetups at the Rolex 24 and 12 Hours of Sebring races – these world-renowned events are in our own backyard and draw tens of thousands of participants, including many Citrus members. Members caravan over or just meet there to watch the festivities/races. The Porsche Corral/Porscheplatz at these events is a great place to park your pride and joy and meet up with good friends from around the region, the country and the world!
Chili Cook-off – during what little “winter” we have, we get together to enjoy all types of award-winning chili on a Saturday night at our “home,” Porsche of Orlando. Members can participate in the friendly competition or just enjoy the delicious results of the best chili, side dishes and desserts.
Rallies – the Sunrise to Sunset Rally and Russell Home Challenge Rally are highly anticipated annual events. The S2SS crosses the state, and the Challenge Rally is run through the hilly backroads of Central FL to benefit the Russell Home for Atypical Children.
Zone Fest – this annual gathering is held to bring together members from all 11 Regions in Zone 12 and usually includes dinners, tech quizzes, an autocross, rally and Concours.
Drive & Dines – several times a year we meet up and take off for great backroad drives, ending at fun and interesting destinations such as museums, water-front restaurants, race shops, etc.
Quarterly Dinners and Holiday Party – we usually plan special quarterly dinners and every year we have our Holiday Party at a special local venue or restaurant, celebrating the year’s activities and awarding prizes for the year.
Tech Sessions/Educational Seminars – we have a few sessions a year, explaining the technical side of our wonderful automotive masterpieces and educating new drivers about the benefits and excitement of Driver’s Education.
As you can tell, the Florida Citrus Region loves to get together and have a great time. With such a wide variety of activities, we have something for everyone, including many family-oriented events.
However, there’s always room for new ideas! If you like planning and throwing parties, all it takes for a successful social event is for someone to have an idea and volunteer to organize it. If you have a great idea, we’d love to put it on the calendar – contact a board member now and let them know. Please come on out and join us!
